Cooperative Agreement for affiliated Partner with Chesapeake Watershed Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit
Funds a Chesapeake Watershed CESU participating partner to translate peer-reviewed science into USGS-approved communication products for Chesapeake Bay watershed decision-making.
⚑ Applicant must be a participating partner of the Chesapeake Watershed Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU). · Cooperative agreement; work is primarily science communication / translation, not primary research. · Award ceiling is $250,000.
This is mainly a science-communication/technical-assistance award in water resources and environmental decision support, which is adjacent to IPPRA’s survey and risk-communication strengths but not one of the team’s core hazard, energy, or education policy lines. It could plausibly involve Andrew Fox or David Hogg on the communication/evaluation side, but the Chesapeake Bay/water-quality focus makes it only a modest fit.

Description
USGS Chesapeake Bay studies seeks to collaborate with the Chesapeake Watershed CESU to strengthen science communication to support decision-making in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The CESU partner will work closely with the USGS to collect and translate peer-reviewed publications ( including journal articles and USGS reports) into communication products (such as USGS approved fact sheets) that address Department of Interior strategic priorities. This agreement is urgently needed to support communication of the following priorities: (1) providing clean water for people and communities, (2) protecting fish and wildlife to support a heritage of outdoor recreation, and (3) addressing the needs and priorities of state and local partners.
Eligibility
This financial assistance opportunity is being issued under a Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units (CESU) Program. CESU's are partnerships that provide research, technical assistance, and education. Eligible recipients must be a participating partner of the Chesapeake Watershed Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit.
