Cooperative Agreement for affiliated Partner with Great Basin Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit
Funding supports a CESU partner project to improve stream discharge measurements and streamgage operations through hydrologic fieldwork and related analysis for USGS in the South Elko field area.
⚑ Eligible applicants must be participating partners of the Great Basin Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU). · Cooperative Agreement with hands-on fieldwork and applied research; award ceiling $300,000.
This is a hydrologic field methods and streamgage operations project centered on discharge measurement technology and basin operations, which is outside IPPRA’s social-behavioral risk, policy, and public perception portfolio. There is no clear fit for the team’s survey, communication, evaluation, or public-opinion research lines.

Description
The USGS Nevada Water Science Center is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research on improving discharge measurements and streamgage operations in the South Elko field area. As new streamgaging technologies emerge and the need to apply operational efficiencies increases, the USGS aims to identify solutions that are effective in extremely remote and hydrologically dynamic watersheds. This project offers extensive hands-on hydrologic fieldwork experience paired with an analytical research component that will contribute directly to USGS data quality, operational efficiency, and basin understanding.
Eligibility
This financial assistance opportunity is being issued under a Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units (CESU) Program. CESU's are partnerships that provide research, technical assistance, and education. Eligible recipients must be a participating partner of the Great Basin Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit.
